Jimmy Kimmel Show Suspension Prompts Disney/Hulu Subscription Cancellations

Some people who subscribe to ABC, a Disney-owned network, are calling for a boycott since they have put Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show on hold indefinitely. A number of people on the social media site X say they are canceling their Disney+ and Hulu memberships in response to the network’s choice.

The suspension happened after Kimmel’s Monday monologue, in which he talked about the death of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk. Kimmel stated, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to make this kid who killed Charlie Kirk look like anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”

His comments caused a lot of anger right away, and Brendan Carr, the chair of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), told broadcasters to take action against the show, saying they may face fines or lose their licenses. Many people are now fighting against Disney, which owns the streaming service Hulu, in response to ABC’s move.

What Subscribers Are Saying on X

People on X have been very open about why they are canceling their subscriptions. One customer posted a screenshot of their terminated Hulu account and said, “I canceled my subscription.” I support Kimmel. Someone else said, “I just canceled my Hulu subscription.” I won’t buy anything from a company that lets the Trump government take away my First Amendment rights!

A third person said, “I just canceled my Disney Plus/Hulu subscription.” You won’t get my money anymore if you want to bring in dictatorial control. Some people have even said that people should “pause” their subscriptions while Kimmel’s show is off the air. One person said to wait until “Disney files a public apology” and admits to “blatant partisanship.”

Donald Trump was happy about the suspension on his social media site Truth Social, but The Daily Mail says that the 57-year-old comic is “livid” and is looking for ways to break out of his contract with ABC.
