BJP and AAP Intensify War of Words Ahead of Delhi Assembly Polls
As the Delhi Assembly elections draw closer, the political atmosphere in the capital has turned increasingly combative, with the opposition BJP and ruling AAP exchanging sharp accusations.
Manoj Tiwari Slams AAP as ‘Government of Jhooth and Loot’
BJP Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari launched a scathing critique of the AAP government in Delhi, branding it a “government of jhooth (lies) and loot.” Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Tiwari said:
“We believe in development. But, unfortunately, we are doing development in an unfavourable situation. Delhi has a govt based on ‘jhooth and loot’. Our aim is to avoid their thinking and move ahead and do what we are known as. …..We wanted to listen to the citizens.”
Atishi Compares BJP to ‘Dawood Preaching Non-Violence’
Responding to allegations made by Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi launched a fiery counterattack, accusing the BJP of neglecting farmers’ welfare.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Office, Atishi remarked:
“BJP talking about farmers is like Dawood preaching on non-violence. The condition of farmers has never been as bad as it was during BJP’s rule. Farmers in Punjab are on hunger strike; tell Modi ji to talk to them. Stop doing politics on farmers’ issues. Bullets and lathis were fired on farmers during BJP rule.”
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Criticizes AAP’s Farmer Policies
Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan accused the AAP government of blocking central welfare schemes for farmers in Delhi. In a letter dated January 1, Chouhan called AAP’s policies “anti-agriculture” and “anti-farmer.”
“I am writing this letter to you with great sorrow. You have never taken appropriate decisions in the interest of farmers in Delhi. The farmer-friendly schemes of the Central Government have also been prevented from being implemented in Delhi by your government,” the letter read.
The Minister further claimed that Delhi farmers were being deprived of the benefits of Central schemes due to AAP’s inaction.
A Heated Prelude to the Polls
With accusations flying from both sides, the battle lines are drawn as the BJP and AAP prepare for an intense election campaign. While the BJP seeks to focus on development and farmer welfare, AAP is countering with allegations of farmer neglect and governance failures under BJP rule.
This clash underscores the high stakes of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, with both parties striving to win over voters through their respective narratives.
