Washington DC [US], February 23: The highly anticipated Dexter spinoff, Dexter: Resurrection, is set to bring back several familiar faces, but Jennifer Carpenter, who portrayed Debra Morgan in Dexter and Dexter: New Blood, will not be one of them.
In a recent interview with People, Carpenter explained her decision to step away from reprising her iconic role. “I am pretty focused on where I am, and I feel like I’ve completed that box. I’m proud of it. I hope that they’re having a wonderful time,” Carpenter shared.

The actress is currently busy portraying US Deputy Marshal Mamie Fossett in 1923, the prequel to Yellowstone. With the show now in its second season, Carpenter is dedicating her time to this new role, expressing her excitement for fans to enjoy more of 1923. “And I’m so happy for the fans to have more to chew on,” she added.
Dexter originally ran from 2006 to 2013, starring Michael C. Hall as Dexter Morgan, a Miami police blood spatter analyst leading a double life as a vigilante serial killer. In the series’ finale, Debra suffered a stroke, and Dexter ultimately took her off life support. Carpenter later returned as a vision in Dexter: New Blood, which premiered in 2021.
Dexter: Resurrection is set to reunite some original cast members, including Hall, David Zayas, and James Remar, while introducing new faces like Jack Alcott, Uma Thurman, and Peter Dinklage.
Currently in production in New York, Dexter: Resurrection is scheduled to premiere this summer on Paramount+ and Showtime, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
