Washington [US], April 20: Hollywood icon Jennifer Aniston recently opened up about her longstanding fear of flying and how she’s found surprising ways to cope — including hypnosis and meditation.
In a candid interview with E! News, the 56-year-old Friends star revealed that despite her deep-rooted anxiety, she’s managed to find relief through targeted therapeutic techniques. “I’ve been doing some hypnosis lately, and one of the requirements is to remove all of those superstitions,” she shared, referencing habits like tapping the outside of the plane with her right hand and stepping on with her right foot — rituals she previously used to calm her nerves.
Now, she’s amazed at the transformation. “I have not been doing the right hand, right foot—and now it’s shockingly good!” she said.
Alongside hypnosis, meditation plays a major role in helping her remain calm in the air. “Plugging into a good meditation can get you through,” Aniston advised, noting that she also finds relief by walking around the cabin and stretching mid-flight.
Despite her fears, Aniston’s love of travel keeps her flying. Her dream vacation? “A white sandy beach and clear, crystal-blue water,” she said. She’s especially fond of trips shared with friends and loved ones. One of her most memorable getaways was a birthday celebration that included nearly 50 guests. “Whoever wants to come, let’s do this,” she recalled. “That was really fun.”
Travel, for Aniston, is more than just relaxation — it’s about broadening horizons. Having grown up with Central Park as her main connection to nature, she now views travel as a vital way to expand her understanding of the world. “There’s more that exists than just this little bubble that we are in,” she said. “It’s all very important and expands our awareness greater than what we’re confined to.”
