JDU MLA Vibha Devi Fumbles While Taking Oath in Bihar Assembly; Video Sparks Reactions

A newly-elected Janata Dal (United) legislator from Bihar, Vibha Devi, struggled to read her oath in the state Assembly, a moment that quickly went viral on social media. As soon as she began reading, her voice started to tremble, and she appeared unable to articulate the words. She then nudged a fellow MLA seated beside her to dictate the lines, drawing widespread attention online.

The incident unfolded after her name was announced and she stood before the House to take the oath. The clip has been widely circulated, with several users questioning how an elected representative could face such difficulty. One social media user commented sarcastically, “Ah, nothing like starting a political career by needing a little help reading. Inspiring.” Another noted that Vibha Devi had also taken oath in 2020, during her previous term, yet still seemed unsure of the process.

Vibha Devi recently won the Nawada seat in the Bihar Assembly elections, defeating RJD candidate Kaushal Yadav by over 27,000 votes. She is also the wife of former MLA and strongman Raj Ballabh Yadav.

The video continues to draw reactions across platforms, adding to the debate over the preparedness and competence of elected representatives.
