Patna (Bihar) [India], April 17: JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar on Thursday launched a scathing attack on RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and the Congress party over recent political developments within the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
Targeting the alliance dynamics, Neeraj Kumar remarked, “Earlier, Congress used to attend Lalu Ji’s court. Now, Tejashwi Yadav is being summoned to the Congress court in Delhi. He met his father, who holds no official post, and today he’s participating in a closed-door Mahagathbandhan meeting. What’s the real purpose of this gathering?”
He further questioned Tejashwi’s leadership, saying, “With such a poor strike rate in the Lok Sabha elections and a lack of confidence among allies, how is Tejashwi still setting the political agenda? Congress is directionless, and it’s evident that the alliance is faltering under Tejashwi’s failed leadership.”
Kumar also took a dig at RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav, saying, “Recently, Ritlal was comparing Tejashwi to legendary leaders. But today, see the impact of law and governance under Nitish Kumar—Ritlal had to surrender in a criminal case on the very day of a crucial political meeting.”
Ritlal Yadav, RJD MLA from Danapur, surrendered before a court in Danapur on Thursday. His associates—Chikku Yadav, Pinku Yadav, and Shravan Yadav—also surrendered. They face allegations including document forgery, extortion, and issuing death threats.
Police had earlier raided 11 locations connected to Ritlal Yadav on April 11, recovering Rs 10.5 lakh in cash, blank cheques worth Rs 77.5 lakh, 14 property-related documents hinting at land grabbing, 17 chequebooks, official stamps, six pen drives, and walkie-talkies.
Defending the MLA, Advocate Safdar Hayat stated, “A builder has falsely accused him of extortion. Upon learning he was wanted by the police, he voluntarily surrendered. A bail application will likely be filed in a day or two. The case is baseless.”
Echoing the sentiment, Advocate Ashok Kumar Singh said, “The extortion charge is fabricated, aimed at damaging his reputation. He and his co-accused have all surrendered and we will seek bail soon.”
