JD Vance Urges Elon Musk To Stay ‘Loyal’ To the Republican Party, Cautions Against Third-Party Bid

Washington, D.C. – Vice President J.D. Vance has publicly advised billionaire Elon Musk against his reported plans to launch a new political party. In an interview on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Vance argued that Musk would be able to exert far greater political influence by remaining “loyal” to the Republican Party and President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.

Vance’s comments follow recent reports that Musk is “pumping the brakes” on the “America Party,” which he announced in July after a public fallout with President Trump over a major tax and spending bill. The reports suggest that Musk wants to prioritize his business ventures and is reluctant to alienate powerful Republicans, including Vance himself.

“My advice to Elon would be to try to fix the Republican Party. Try to push it in your own way. Disagree with me all you want, disagree with the president of the United States, but don’t pretend that you can make a big difference with a third party,” Vance said. “I think Elon would make a much bigger difference if he stayed loyal to President Trump’s Republican Party, and if he had disagreements, express those disagreements from the inside as opposed from the outside.”

Vance emphasized that a third-party effort would be a “huge mistake” for Musk, arguing that the billionaire has already been perceived by the far left as being on the side of the American right. “The idea that Elon is ever going to go back to being sort of in the middle, where Democrats and Republicans both like him, that’s just not going to happen,” Vance stated.

The Vice President’s remarks come as speculation mounts that Musk is considering using his vast financial resources to back Vance in a potential 2028 presidential run. In the past, Musk has been a significant donor to Republican candidates, spending about $300 million to support Trump and other Republicans in the 2024 election. The recent public spat between the two billionaires, however, had led many to believe that their alliance was over.

Musk has not publicly commented on Vance’s advice, but his allies have told media outlets that he has not officially ruled out creating a new party and could change his mind as the 2026 midterm elections approach. For now, however, it appears the tech mogul is heeding the advice of key Republican figures who fear that a third party would only serve to split the conservative vote.
