Los Angeles (California) [US], February 28: Jason Statham is set to reprise his role in the upcoming sequel The Beekeeper 2, following the success of the 2024 action-thriller The Beekeeper. The sequel will be produced by Miramax and will feature a new director, Timo Tjahjanto, known for his work on the anticipated Nobody 2. Tjahjanto replaces David Ayer, who directed the first installment.
The Beekeeper, which centered on a retired intelligence operative seeking vengeance after a tragic phishing scam led to the death of his landlady, was a box office hit, grossing USD 153 million worldwide. The film also garnered positive reviews from critics. Alongside Statham, the movie featured Emmy Raver-Lampman, Minnie Driver, Josh Hutcherson, and Jeremy Irons.
Screenwriter Kurt Wimmer will return to pen the sequel, while Statham will take on producing duties through his Punch Palace Productions banner, collaborating with Chris Long’s Long Shot Productions.
Timo Tjahjanto, renowned for his high-octane action sequences and dynamic style, is expected to bring an intense new direction to the franchise. While plot details for The Beekeeper 2 are being kept under wraps, production is slated to begin in the fall of 2025. Fans can also expect further casting announcements in the coming months.
