Mitchell is joined by rappers Tabatha “Dreamdoll” Robinson and NLE Choppa in this suspense-filled drama. The plot revolves around a desperate couple, played by Mitchell and Robinson, who take matters into their own hands to rescue their 15-year-old daughter from the clutches of a mysterious figure, King David, portrayed by NLE Choppa. With no help from the authorities, they embark on a high-stakes suicide mission to save their daughter, creating a thrilling narrative full of unexpected twists.
Black Heat is financed and produced by BLacklight, with Wes Miller and van den Houten producing the film. Joseph O’Connor and Lloyd Watts co-produce, and Mitchell, Jessie Jalee, Han Soto, and Chad Ghiron serve as executive producers.
In a statement, Miller shared, “Starting this distribution arm of the company is a dream come true. BLacklight is about bringing that raw, unfiltered energy back to the big screen—the kind that spoke directly to us in the ’70s and defined a generation in the ’90s. We’re building a home for films that don’t just entertain but reflect our culture, our struggles, and our victories.”
Jason Mitchell, known for his role as Eazy-E in Straight Outta Compton (2015), has appeared in various high-profile films including Keanu (2016), Kong: Skull Island (2017), Detroit (2017), and Mudbound (2017).
