July 12, 2025: World No. 1 Jannik Sinner stormed into his first-ever Wimbledon final on Friday, defeating seven-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets — 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 — in just under two hours on Centre Court. The Italian will now face Carlos Alcaraz in a highly anticipated final, a rematch of their thrilling French Open showdown last month.
Djokovic, visibly hindered and not at his physical best, struggled with his trademark movement and took a medical timeout after the second set for a left thigh issue. Though the 38-year-old managed a 3-0 lead in the third set, he couldn’t maintain momentum as Sinner dominated from the baseline with precision and poise.
The 23-year-old Sinner, who already holds the US Open and Australian Open titles, has now reached the final at all four Grand Slams — becoming only the 11th man to do so in the Open Era. His clean and powerful hitting kept Djokovic on the back foot throughout, as he dropped just 17 points on serve and won five games in a row to close out the match.
Reflecting on the upcoming final against Alcaraz, Sinner said:
“We try to push ourselves to the limit. He’s one of the players I look up to. Hopefully, it’s going to be a good match like the last ones.”
Sinner and Alcaraz will meet in what promises to be a blockbuster Wimbledon final, continuing one of tennis’ most exciting new rivalries.
