Jammu, February 13: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a security review meeting in Jammu on Thursday, focusing on the region’s safety and counter-terrorism efforts. This meeting comes in the wake of several similar reviews held in the past, aimed at enhancing intelligence networks, addressing cross-border infiltration, and promoting developmental initiatives.
The meeting is expected to assess the recent security developments in the Kashmir Valley, including challenges posed by terror groups and insurgent activities. Officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs, intelligence agencies, Army, paramilitary forces, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration are anticipated to participate in the review session.
The security review is a part of the broader efforts to address the region’s security situation, which has been marked by increased counter-terror operations and a ramped-up government effort to ensure lasting peace and development. The meeting also aligns with ongoing efforts by the government to dismantle terror modules and improve development outreach in the region.
The Union Home Minister Amit Shah had previously emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and called for enhanced coordination between Central and state security agencies. During a similar meeting in the national capital, Shah instructed the Border Security Force (BSF) to strengthen the border grid and adopt advanced technologies to ensure zero infiltration from the International Border with Pakistan. He also directed all security agencies to work in synergy to tackle terrorism and maintain a strong counter-terrorism stance in the Union Territory.
The meeting in Jammu follows earlier high-level discussions on February 4 and February 5, where the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police also participated in reviewing the region’s security dynamics. The government’s efforts to secure the region and ensure long-term peace remain a top priority.
