Washington DC [US], May 15: DC Studios has dropped the second trailer for James Gunn’s highly anticipated film ‘Superman’, offering a deeper look into the dual identity of the iconic superhero and the tension between his alien origins and human life.
Starring David Corenswet as the new Superman, the trailer explores the inner conflict between Clark Kent’s Kryptonian heritage and his life as a journalist on Earth. According to Deadline, the trailer showcases the complexity of Superman’s role in a world unsure of how to handle his power.
Rachel Brosnahan, playing journalist Lois Lane, is seen interviewing Superman, challenging his recent actions.
“Recently, you’ve come under a lot of fire. Today, the Secretary of Defence said he was going to look into your actions,” she says in the clip.
Superman responds by saying he “stopped a war,” only for Lois to retort that he illegally entered a country without Presidential consultation.
The trailer also features Pruitt Taylor Vince as Pa Kent, who reminds Clark that it’s his “choices and actions” that define who he is — a line that highlights the film’s core moral theme.
Nicholas Hoult makes his debut as Lex Luthor, expressing disdain over Superman becoming “the focal point of the entire world’s conversation”—a power shift Luthor clearly struggles with.
In addition to Corenswet, Brosnahan, and Hoult, the film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast:
Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Maria Gabriela de Faria, Wendell Pierce, Alan Tudyk, Pruitt Taylor Vince, and Neva Howell.
As per Deadline, Superman will premiere internationally on July 9, with a U.S. theatrical and IMAX release on July 11.
