Jaishankar Holds Key Diplomatic Meetings At Munich Security Conference 2025

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged in a series of high-level diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) 2025, strengthening India’s global ties and discussing pressing international issues.

Jaishankar met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar and Fiji Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. Expressing his appreciation for Rabuka’s insights, Jaishankar shared on X, “An honour to meet PM & FM @slrabuka of Fiji this evening. Always nice to hear his recollections, views and insights.”

During his meeting with Gideon Sa’ar, the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in West Asia. Highlighting the significance of Indo-Israeli relations, Jaishankar posted on X, “Exchanged views on the current situation in West Asia/Middle East. Underlined the strength and significance of our bilateral partnership.”

Jaishankar also took part in a panel discussion titled Exception and Exceptionalism: Deciphering the 2025 World Order at MSC 2025. The discussion included notable figures such as Finland President Alexander Stubb, former US envoy Jon Huntsman, Istituto Affari Internazionali (IAI) Director Nathalie Tocci, and UAE’s Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, Lana Nusseibeh. Commenting on the discussion, he shared, “Joined President @alexstubb, Lana Nusseibeh, @JonHuntsman and @NathalieTocci for a conversation on ‘Exception and Exceptionalism: Deciphering the 2025 World Order’ at #MSC2025. Highlighted the reshaping underway, impacting politics, economy, technology and diplomacy.”

Further strengthening India’s engagement in global energy cooperation, Jaishankar met with International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol. “Nice to see @fbirol, Executive Director of @IEA, on the sideline of #MSC2025,” he posted on X.

Additionally, Jaishankar engaged with German lawmakers Johann Wadephul, Thomas Erndl, and Jurgen Hardt MdB to discuss enhancing India-Germany and India-EU partnerships. He emphasized the mutually beneficial nature of these relationships, stating, “A pleasure interacting with Deputy Chairman @JoWadephul, @juergenhardt and @TErndl of @cducsubt. Underlined mutually beneficial opportunities in a stronger India – Germany and India – EU partnership.”

Jaishankar’s engagements extended further as he met with the Foreign Ministers of Mongolia, Austria, Denmark, Argentina, and Romania, along with Norway’s Finance Minister, covering discussions on global security, democracy, and economic collaboration.

The 61st Munich Security Conference, held from February 14-16, serves as a premier platform for global leaders to address key foreign and security policy challenges. Jaishankar’s active participation underscores India’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic and strategic relations worldwide.
