Mohammed Shami’s Wife Hasin Jahan Alleges Harassment After Court Grants ₹4 Lakh Monthly Alimony
Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami is once again in the spotlight—this time over personal matters—as his estranged wife Hasin Jahan accused him of harassment and hiring criminals to harm her, shortly after the Calcutta High Court ordered him to pay ₹4 lakh in monthly alimony to her and their daughter.
In a strongly-worded Instagram post shared on Friday, Jahan—who has been locked in a seven-year legal battle with Shami—claimed the fast bowler had destroyed their family due to his “characterless, greedy, and mean-minded” nature.
“We have been involved in a legal battle for 7 years. What did you (Shami) gain from it? Because of being characterless, greedy, and mean-minded, you destroyed your own family,” she wrote.
She went on to allege that Shami used criminals to “defame, harass and try to kill” her:
“How many criminals did you buy to kill us, defame us, harass us, and defeat us from all sides — did you gain anything from it?”
Expressing concern for their daughter, Jahan added that the money used in legal fights could have been better spent on the child’s future.
“If the money had been spent on your daughter’s education, life, and future, and if you had given me a good life, wouldn’t that have been so much better?”
Court Orders ₹4 Lakh Monthly Alimony
Earlier this week, the Calcutta High Court ruled in Jahan’s favour, directing Shami to pay ₹4 lakh per month in alimony—₹1.5 lakh to his wife and ₹2.5 lakh to their daughter.
The order, passed by Justice Ajoy Kumar Mukherjee, came in response to Jahan’s appeal against a previous district court order, which had set the alimony at ₹50,000 for Jahan and ₹80,000 for their daughter in 2023.
During court proceedings, Jahan’s lawyer cited Shami’s 2021 income tax return, which showed an annual income of ₹7.19 crore, or approximately ₹60 lakh per month, arguing that he could afford higher support payments.
A Troubled Marriage
Shami married Hasin Jahan, a former model and KKR cheerleader, in 2014, and the couple welcomed their daughter in 2015. Their marriage began to unravel publicly in 2018, when Jahan accused Shami of domestic violence, dowry harassment, and match-fixing, alleging he received money from a Pakistani woman. She also claimed that the cricketer cut off financial support, leaving her struggling to support herself and their daughter.
Neither Mohammed Shami nor his representatives have yet responded to the latest allegations.
