Jadeja Hails Rohit Sharma’s Century As A Positive Sign For Champions Trophy

Ravindra Jadeja believes Rohit Sharma’s match-winning century in the second ODI against England is a great sign for India ahead of the Champions Trophy. Rohit’s blistering 119 off 90 balls helped India chase down 305 runs in Cuttack, sealing a series victory with an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Rohit’s Return to Form

Under pressure to deliver, Rohit silenced his critics with a flawless century, proving that he still has plenty of fight left. Supported by Shubman Gill (60) and Shreyas Iyer (44), Rohit dominated England’s attack, smashing 12 fours and 7 sixes in his 32nd ODI century.

Jadeja, speaking at the post-match press conference, expressed confidence in Rohit’s form, calling his return to runs perfect timing ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy on February 20.

“He’s such a big player that he knows how to play his innings. It’s just a matter of one good knock. As you saw, it didn’t feel like he hadn’t scored in his previous innings. It was smooth and confident, and all his shots were natural,” Jadeja said.

“A hundred before a major tournament is a huge confidence booster. It’s a good thing for the team and the player, especially when the top-order scores runs—it sets up a strong platform for the rest of the batters.”

Flawless Execution & Tactical Brilliance

Rohit’s measured approach early on—defending the first few deliveries before accelerating—showcased his experience. Once settled, he attacked Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, handling the spinners with ease despite the turning track.

He reached his fifty in just 30 balls, and on his 76th delivery, he stepped down the track and launched a massive six to bring up his 32nd ODI ton, making him the third-highest century-maker for India in ODIs.

India’s Final ODI Before the Champions Trophy

With the series secured, India may experiment with different combinations in the third ODI in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, fine-tuning their squad ahead of the marquee ICC event.
