Despite a few hiccups in the middle overs, PBKS crossed the line with two balls to spare, finishing at 194/6, with Josh Inglis and Marco Jansen remaining unbeaten.
Khaleel Ahmed (2/28) and Matheesha Pathirana (2/45) were the pick of CSK’s bowlers but couldn’t stop the Punjab charge.
Earlier, CSK posted 190 in 19.2 overs, thanks to a blistering 88 off 47 from Sam Curran. Despite a poor start that saw them at 22/2, Curran’s fireworks and a 78-run partnership with Dewald Brevis (32) put CSK on track for a big total.
However, a dramatic collapse in the death overs, triggered by Yuzvendra Chahal’s stunning hat-trick, derailed their innings. Chahal cleaned up Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj, and Noor Ahmad in three consecutive deliveries, finishing with figures of 4/32.
CSK’s lower order crumbled, and they were bowled out with 4 balls remaining. Arshdeep Singh and Marco Jansen took two wickets each, while Azmatullah Omarzai and Harpreet Brar chipped in with one apiece.
