Tel Aviv [Israel]: Israeli forces intensified their strikes on Jabalia in northern Gaza on Wednesday, resulting in 15 fatalities and 20 injuries, according to a report by France 24.
Gaza’s civil defense agency reported that an airstrike targeting a residential house led to the casualties. The Israeli military stated that the strikes are aimed at preventing Hamas militants from regrouping, as part of ongoing operations in the region.
In a separate operation in southern Lebanon, Israeli soldiers targeted a Hezbollah squad reportedly transferring weapons from a storage facility to a vehicle. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage showing individuals loading weapons into a white van outside a building just before Tuesday’s airstrike.
The IDF confirmed:
“To eliminate the threat, the Israel Air Force (IAF) struck both the weapons storage facility and the vehicle. The IDF remains deployed in southern Lebanon and will act against any threat to the state of Israel and its citizens.”
These actions occur under the framework of a two-month ceasefire agreement that began on November 27. According to the agreement, Hezbollah is required to withdraw armed forces from areas south of the Litani River, with Israeli forces also staging withdrawals. The Lebanese Armed Forces, supported by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), are to assume control of the region.
Under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, which ended the 2006 Second Lebanon War, Hezbollah is prohibited from operating in southern Lebanon south of the Litani River.
