Israeli soldiers have uncovered and destroyed a weapons depot along with multiple improvised laboratories for explosives and drone production, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday.
During the operation, troops discovered approximately 100 pipe bombs, eight larger explosive devices, and an activation system for detonating explosives. Several buildings used as terrorist infrastructure were demolished as part of the ongoing security measures.
The IDF initially launched its counterterror operation in the Jenin refugee camp on January 19. The mission has since expanded to the Palestinian city of Tulkarem and an area of Samaria known as “the Five Villages.” These actions follow the Palestinian Authority’s failed attempt to crack down on militant activities in the Jenin refugee camp earlier in January.
Since Hamas’s deadly October 7 attack, Israeli forces have conducted extensive counterterror operations in Judea and Samaria, resulting in the arrest of approximately 6,000 wanted Palestinians. Reports indicate that around 40 percent of those arrested have affiliations with Hamas.
The Israeli military continues its security operations to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent further threats in the region.
