Israeli Forces Discover Belongings Of Fallen Border Police Officer in Jenin

Tel Aviv [Israel], February 4: As Israel’s ongoing counterterrorism operation in Jenin entered its second week, Israeli soldiers uncovered the personal belongings of a Border Police officer, Sgt. Shay Germay, who was killed in the Jenin refugee camp a year ago. The Border Police confirmed that the items found included a wallet, cell phone, ID card, and driver’s license belonging to the 19-year-old officer from Karmiel.

Sgt. Germay was killed in an attack when an improvised explosive device (IED) buried in the road detonated as his vehicle passed through, injuring three other officers in the process. Following the discovery of his belongings, Germay’s family has been notified, and the items will be returned to them. Additionally, the building where the items were found is expected to be demolished as part of the operation.

The raid, part of “Operation Iron Wall,” launched on January 21, continues following the Palestinian Authority’s failed efforts to control the area. The operation has seen significant successes, including the killing of over 50 terrorists, the arrest of more than 100 individuals, and the seizure of weapons, including the discovery of a bomb-making laboratory. Since the deadly attacks on October 7, Israeli forces have arrested 6,000 wanted Palestinians in counterterrorism operations in the West Bank, with approximately 40% of those arrested linked to Hamas.
