Israel Launches Groundbreaking Solar Energy Tool For Public Use

Tel Aviv [Israel], February 5: Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, in collaboration with the Israel Mapping Center, has unveiled an innovative tool that allows the general public to calculate the potential for solar energy production on their rooftops and estimate the income generated from selling electricity.

This pioneering system, powered by the government’s GOVMAP server, provides a user-friendly, online platform to assess the solar energy potential for various buildings and spaces. It covers several types of land use, including residential, commercial, industrial, public institutions, and agricultural areas in Israeli communities.

The system also evaluates the potential for solar energy generation in shaded public spaces such as sports fields, parking lots, cemeteries, and other communal areas.

Leveraging advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence, the system maps available spaces suitable for solar installations, analyzes solar radiation intensity, and excludes areas already occupied by existing solar systems. It calculates the potential power output of solar panels and estimates the total production hours.

Through an interactive calculator on the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure website, users can quickly determine the solar energy potential of any roof in Israel and gain an estimate of the annual income that can be earned from selling electricity generated by their solar systems.
