Following India’s precision strikes under Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), Israel’s Ambassador to India, Reuven Azar, publicly expressed strong support for India’s right to self-defence.
Taking to social media platform X, Ambassador Azar said:
“Israel supports India’s right for self defense. Terrorists should know there’s no place to hide from their heinous crimes against the innocent. #OperationSindoor”
Global Diplomatic Response
The Israeli envoy’s remarks were among the first expressions of solidarity from a foreign government following India’s military action.
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that Washington is closely monitoring the situation between India and Pakistan. He stopped short of taking a side but emphasized the importance of regional stability.
Former US President Donald Trump, speaking from the White House grounds, acknowledged the strikes and commented:
“We just heard about it… They’ve been fighting for many decades, even centuries. I hope it ends very quickly.”
In a more balanced tone, the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan called for restraint from both New Delhi and Islamabad. In a statement released by the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he urged both nations to de-escalate tensions and avoid further escalation.
Backdrop: Operation Sindoor
India’s Ministry of Defence confirmed the strikes were carried out in direct retaliation to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen.
The operation—jointly conducted by the Army, Navy, and Air Force—targeted:
- 4 locations in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot
- 5 locations in PoJK
Indian forces used special precision munitions, with a focus on top operatives of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Sources confirmed that all nine targets were successfully neutralized.
The Indian Defence Ministry reiterated that:
“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory. No Pakistani military facilities were targeted.”
Leadership Monitoring
Sources revealed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitored the operation throughout the night, underscoring the mission’s strategic importance.
Conclusion
As global powers react, India’s message appears clear: terror infrastructure across the border will not go unanswered. The strong support from nations like Israel, along with calls for calm from others, sets the stage for a diplomatically sensitive period following a decisive military response.
