Israel Agrees To Trump’s Gaza Ceasefire Proposal, Confirms Foreign Minister

JERUSALEM — Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated on Monday that Israel has accepted a Gaza ceasefire proposal from U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking at a joint press conference with his Hungarian counterpart in Budapest, Saar said that Israel is ready to agree to a full deal to end the war, which would include the release of all hostages and Hamas laying down its arms.

This announcement follows a “last warning” from President Trump on Sunday, where he urged Hamas to accept the proposed deal. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump claimed, “The Israelis have accepted my Terms. It is time for Hamas to accept as well.” While Trump’s post did not specify the terms, Israeli media reports indicate the proposal envisions the release of all hostages on the first day of a truce, with negotiations for a broader end to the war to follow.

Hamas has since responded to the latest proposal, with a statement on Sunday indicating that it is open to returning to the negotiating table. The group said it is ready to discuss the release of all prisoners in exchange for a “clear declaration to end the war, a total withdrawal from the Gaza Strip,” and the establishment of an independent Palestinian committee to manage Gaza.

While Foreign Minister Saar’s statement is the first official confirmation from Israel regarding its acceptance of the deal, a source close to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously told The Times of Israel that the government was “very seriously considering” the proposal. This reported framework comes as Israel continues its offensive in Gaza, an operation that has drawn criticism from international allies and the families of hostages.
