Is Bigg Boss Biased? A Look at Kunickaa Sadanand’s Controversial Journey

The reality show Bigg Boss is once again under scrutiny, with viewers and contestants alike questioning if the show is unfairly protecting one of its own. This season, all eyes are on Kunickaa Sadanand, whose repeated escapes from nomination and eviction have sparked a debate about the show’s impartiality.

The Task That Exposed Everything

The recent nominations task, where housemates were challenged to silently count 19 minutes in pairs, brought the issue of bias to the forefront. Kunickaa and Amaal Mallik were paired together, but the task quickly devolved into chaos after Kunickaa made a derogatory remark about fellow contestant Tanya Mittal’s mother. The comment left Tanya in tears and turned the house against Kunickaa.

In a bold move, Amaal decided to take a stand. To punish Kunickaa for her unacceptable behavior, he intentionally quit the task within five minutes, a move that would automatically nominate both of them. However, before the task could even begin, Bigg Boss intervened. Amaal was summoned to the confession room and instructed not to “self-nominate,” a decision that many viewers found suspicious. Bigg Boss claimed that “in previous seasons, contestants have never been allowed to self-nominate,” a statement that has been contradicted by former contestants and viewers. This intervention only fueled suspicions that Kunickaa’s game is being planned by the show’s creators.

A History of Protection

This isn’t the first time Kunickaa has seemingly been shielded from elimination. Last week, she was set for eviction after receiving the fewest votes. However, a twist was introduced during Weekend Ka Vaar, where five contestants were given an “app room” advantage. Kunickaa and another contestant, Mridul Tiwari, were given the choice to either save themselves or skip house duties. Kunickaa conveniently chose to save herself, securing her place in the house despite the low vote count.

Host Salman Khan’s treatment of her has also raised questions. In an earlier Weekend Ka Vaar episode, Salman appeared to be easy on Kunickaa and her allies while criticizing her rivals. He highlighted her rival Gaurav’s betrayal but ignored Kunickaa’s betrayal of him. In a subsequent episode, Salman gave Kunickaa only a mild scolding for abandoning her captaincy duties. A food fight with another contestant, Zeishaan Quadri, was also brushed aside. Instead, Kunickaa’s son, Ayaan, was brought in to narrate her struggles, seemingly to turn her image from villain to victim overnight.

The bias was also evident in the latest nominations. While another contestant, Abhishek Bajaj, was punished for helping Nagma Mirajkar, a clear violation of the rules, Kunickaa was allowed to cheat by putting cotton in her ears during the task. Rather than disqualifying her, Bigg Boss shifted the responsibility to the captain, who failed to spot the cheating, allowing Kunickaa to walk free.

The Bigger Picture

Whether she is cast as a hero or a villain, Kunickaa seems to have the show’s full support. It appears that it’s not the audience keeping her in the game, but the show itself. Amaal Mallik has emerged as the only one brave enough to challenge this perceived bias. With the next Weekend Ka Vaar approaching, viewers are waiting to see if Salman Khan will finally address Kunickaa’s controversial remarks about Tanya Mittal’s family.
