Tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, with both sides intensifying not only military actions but also war rhetoric. In its latest warning, Iran has issued a stark message to Washington amid reports of a possible US ground invasion.
Fresh warning from Iranian military
In a newly released video, Lieutenant-Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, warned that American soldiers would become “good food for the sharks of the Persian Gulf” if they attempted to enter Iranian territory.
The statement comes as reports suggest the US could deploy up to 10,000 troops to the region, raising fears of a full-scale ground offensive.
Sharp remarks targeting US leadership
Zolfaghari also took a direct swipe at US President Donald Trump, calling him a “pawn” of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. He warned that any attempt to invade Iran would drag US forces into a “deadly quagmire.”
According to the Iranian military, capturing Iranian territory remains an unrealistic goal, and any aggression would result in severe consequences for invading forces.
‘Welcome to Hell’ warning resurfaces
Earlier, Iran’s English-language daily Tehran Times had issued a similar warning through a provocative front-page headline:
“Welcome to Hell. US troops who step foot on Iranian soil will leave only in a coffin.”
Parliament speaker echoes threat
Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf reinforced the message, stating that Iranian forces are prepared and “waiting” for US troops to arrive, warning of severe retaliation.
US stance remains cautious
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that while the conflict may not last months and could end within weeks, all options—including military escalation—remain open for President Trump.
Bottom line
As troop deployments increase and rhetoric sharpens, the possibility of a ground invasion remains uncertain—but the risks of a wider regional conflict continue to grow.
