Tehran [Iran], June 14 : Iran’s Foreign Ministry on Saturday declared that any nuclear negotiations with the United States are now “meaningless,” following a recent Israeli military strike on Iranian territory. The remarks were made by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei Hamaneh, as reported by Mehr News Agency (MNA).
Baghaei accused the United States of hypocrisy, claiming it enables Israeli aggression while engaging in nuclear diplomacy.
“You cannot claim to negotiate and at the same time divide work by allowing the Zionist regime [Israel] to target Iran’s territory,” Baghaei said, accusing Washington of complicity in the Israeli action.
The statement comes ahead of the planned sixth round of U.S.-Iran nuclear talks, originally scheduled for Sunday in Muscat, Oman, which now faces uncertainty following the Israeli attack.
Trump Responds, Issues Stark Warning to Iran
In a post on Truth Social, former U.S. President Donald Trump acknowledged that his administration was aware of Israel’s intentions and warned Iran of dire consequences if it failed to reach a deal.
“They are all DEAD now, and it will only get worse,” Trump wrote, referring to Iranian military officials reportedly killed in the Israeli airstrikes.
“Iran must make a deal before there is nothing left, and save what was once known as the Iranian Empire.”
Trump also emphasized the military superiority of Israel and the United States, describing Israeli access to U.S. weapons as a critical factor in future operations.
Israel Confirms Pre-emptive Strikes
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the strikes in a statement on X, calling them “pre-emptive” and aimed at Iran’s nuclear weapons infrastructure.
“Weapons of mass destruction in the hands of the Iranian regime are an existential threat… Israel has no choice but to fulfil the obligation to act in defence of its citizens,” the IDF stated.
According to CNN, the Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of multiple senior Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists.
Iran Retaliates with Strikes on Tel Aviv
In retaliation, Iran reportedly launched missile and drone strikes on Tel Aviv, escalating the already tense military exchange. Israel has since resumed counterstrikes, marking a dangerous uptick in regional conflict.
