Iranian authorities claim to have dismantled a secret drone manufacturing facility allegedly operated by Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, in the capital city of Tehran, according to a report by ARY News citing Iran’s state-run news agency IRNA.
In a major security operation, two individuals suspected of collaborating with Mossad were arrested during separate raids across Tehran and the Alborz provinces. Sa’eed Montazer al-Mahdi, spokesperson for Iran’s Police Command, confirmed that the arrests occurred in the Fashafuyeh district of Ray County, located in the southern part of Tehran.
Authorities reportedly confiscated over 200 kilograms of explosives, parts for 23 drones, launchers, and a range of technical equipment intended for assembling and launching unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Additionally, a Nissan pickup truck, believed to have been used to transport the drone components and explosives, was also seized.
As per the report, Iranian officials assert that Mossad operatives have been attempting to conduct sabotage missions inside Iran. The alleged plans included the deployment of small, explosive-laden drones designed to strike strategic sites within the country.
This revelation comes shortly after Israel’s unprecedented overnight airstrikes on June 13, which reportedly targeted residential areas in Tehran and several other Iranian cities. In a swift response, Iran launched retaliatory missile and drone strikes aimed at key Israeli cities such as Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and Haifa.
According to ARY News, these escalations have severely disrupted daily life in parts of Israel, with many residents taking shelter in bombproof bunkers amid fears of further attacks.
The incident highlights the growing covert conflict between Iran and Israel, with both nations intensifying intelligence and military operations against each other amid an already volatile regional security landscape.
