Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India] : Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and opted to bowl against Mumbai Indians (MI) on an action-packed Sunday in the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Wankhede Stadium.
Mumbai Indians are currently on a red-hot streak, having secured four consecutive victories and completely turning their season around. The return of Jasprit Bumrah has given the side a massive boost, making them look like serious contenders once again.
Meanwhile, Lucknow Super Giants have struggled recently, losing two of their last three matches and are in desperate need of a win to stay alive in the playoff race.
After winning the toss, LSG captain Rishabh Pant said, “We are bowling first. In a day game, you want to utilise the surface. We are in a good space, and personally, it’s easier to put the team ahead, which makes it easier. Eventually, you want to play good cricket and take every day as your first day. One change: Shardul is out, and Mayank Yadav is in.”
MI skipper Hardik Pandya added at the toss, “We were planning to bowl, but looking at the heat, we don’t mind batting first. It’s about adapting and not thinking too much about the conditions. The ESA game is always very special, thanks to the initiative by the Ambanis, and it gives us added motivation. We want to put up a great show for the kids today. Momentum helps, but every game in the IPL matters, so it’s about doing the right things. Two changes for us: Karn Sharma comes in for Mitch Santner, and Corbin Bosch makes his debut.”
