Jakarta [Indonesia], May 29: Indo-Pacific Strategic Intelligence Executive Director Curie Maharani has expressed strong support for India’s counter-terrorism strategy, highlighting its measured military responses, clear strategic goals, and diplomatic engagement—especially in the wake of Operation Sindoor.
In an interview with ANI following her interaction with the Indian all-party parliamentary delegation in Jakarta, Maharani noted that both Indonesia and India share the impact of terrorism and emphasized that India’s restrained yet firm approach sets a powerful example globally.
“India has clear strategic objectives to uphold their deterrence… India has shown the world that it has employed limited military operations with no intention to escalate the situation. Indonesia appreciates that restraint,” said Maharani.
She further commended India’s international outreach, stating that the delegation’s visit to Indonesia and other nations reflects New Delhi’s commitment to global cooperation on counter-terrorism.
Led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, the all-party delegation includes lawmakers from multiple political parties—Aparajita Sarangi (BJP), Abhishek Banerjee (TMC), Brij Lala (BJP), John Brittas (CPI-M), Pradan Baruah (BJP), Hemang Joshi (BJP), Salman Khurshid (Congress)—and former Ambassador Mohan Kumar.
The delegation met with Indonesian think tanks, academics, and diplomats, conveying a unified Indian stance against cross-border terrorism and promoting Operation Sindoor as a calibrated response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 civilian lives.
In a post on X, the Indian Embassy in Indonesia shared:
“The delegation conveyed a strong and unified message of zero tolerance for cross-border terrorism to maintain peace and regional stability and sought to jointly explore ways to combat this menace.”
They also held discussions with resident ambassadors of friendly countries stationed in Indonesia, reinforcing India’s call for global cooperation and underscoring its zero-tolerance stance on terrorism.
Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, saw Indian Armed Forces target terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reportedly killing over 100 terrorists affiliated with Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
The delegation’s tour is part of India’s broader diplomatic campaign against Pakistan-sponsored terrorism, with earlier visits to Japan, South Korea, and Singapore. More countries are expected to be part of the ongoing outreach effort.
