IndiGo To Launch New Direct Flights Connecting Delhi With Jorhat And Tiruchirappalli From September 2025

In a boost to regional connectivity, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that IndiGo will soon launch new routes linking Assam’s cities with major hubs across India. A long-standing demand for a direct Jorhat-Delhi flight will be fulfilled starting September 20, 2025, operating four times a week.

Sharing the development on social media, CM Sarma said, “Good news for Assam’s air travellers! Following my discussions with IndiGo’s management, the airline will introduce new routes connecting Assam with key cities across India.”

IndiGo also confirmed the launch of daily direct flights between Delhi and Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) in Tamil Nadu from September 16, 2025, further enhancing north-south air connectivity.

Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, said these new services underscore the airline’s commitment to “affordable and seamless travel across India”, benefiting both tourism and business sectors. The Delhi-Jorhat link is especially significant as Jorhat is the gateway to Majuli Island, Kaziranga National Park, and Assam’s renowned tea estates.

In a related move, IndiGo will also commence direct Tiruchirappalli-Jaffna flights from March 30, 2025, offering better travel options between South India and northern Sri Lanka to cater to growing passenger demand.

These developments are expected to boost tourism, trade, and local economies in both northeastern and southern India while improving international links via Sri Lanka.
