IndiGo Issues Travel Advisory For Goa Amid Heavy Pre-Monsoon Rains; IMD Predicts More Downpour

Panaji [Goa]: IndiGo Airlines has issued a travel advisory for passengers flying to or from Goa, warning of potential flight delays and disruptions due to ongoing rain and inclement weather across the coastal state. The airline posted the alert on X (formerly Twitter) early Wednesday, cautioning travellers to stay informed and allow for extra time when travelling to the airport.

“#6ETravelAdvisory: #Goa is experiencing rain, which may affect flight operations. Stay updated on your flight status via bit.ly/3ZWAQXd for the latest information,” IndiGo wrote in its advisory.

The airline strongly urged passengers to check flight status updates before leaving for the airport and to plan for possible delays, both in air travel and local transportation due to the weather.

“Owing to inclement weather and rainfall in Goa, flight operations may be subject to delays or disruptions. We strongly recommend that all customers check the latest flight status prior to leaving for the airport and allocate additional travel time,” the airline stated.

IndiGo also assured travellers that its customer service teams are available across all touchpoints to help passengers through any disruptions and ensure a smooth travel experience despite weather challenges.

IMD Predicts Continued Rainfall

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued heavy to very heavy rainfall in Goa, particularly in North and South Goa, with occasional thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 30-40 km/h.

“We have issued an orange warning for today and tomorrow. Thereafter, it will shift to a yellow warning. Yesterday, South Goa recorded nearly 70 mm of rain, and similar levels were seen the day before,” said N.P. Kulkarni, IMD Goa station in-charge.

Kulkarni described the rainfall as typical of the pre-monsoon pattern, indicating a possible heavier spell expected tomorrow as well.

Passengers Advised to Plan Ahead

With adverse weather conditions likely to persist for at least two more days, passengers flying in or out of Goa are advised to:

  • Monitor flight status regularly via the IndiGo app or website.
  • Leave early for the airport due to possible traffic delays.
  • Reach out to customer support for rebooking or assistance if needed.

As Goa braces for intensified pre-monsoon showers, travelers are urged to stay alert, travel cautiously, and remain connected with airline updates to avoid disruptions.
