New Delhi [India], June 22: An IndiGo flight (6E 6764) operating from Guwahati to Chennai was forced to divert to Bengaluru after the pilot declared a ‘fuel mayday’ due to insufficient fuel, sources reported on Saturday.
The incident took place on Thursday when the aircraft was unable to land in Chennai because of air traffic congestion. With passengers onboard, the flight was rerouted to Bengaluru, where it landed safely at 8:15 PM.
During the layover, the aircraft was refueled, and passengers were offered refreshments. Their baggage was also offloaded. Due to Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL), IndiGo had to assign a fresh crew, and the flight later departed for Chennai at 10:24 PM.
In a separate incident earlier in the week, an IndiGo flight was diverted due to a security concern. On Tuesday, June 17, flight 6E1272, originally from Muscat to Kochi, and continuing as flight 6E2706 from Kochi to Delhi, was rerouted to Nagpur due to a reported security issue.
The aircraft landed safely at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport in Nagpur, and all passengers disembarked without incident.
“We confirm receiving a security concern pertaining to IndiGo flight 6E1272… Following protocol, the relevant authorities were immediately informed, and the aircraft was diverted to Nagpur,” said an IndiGo spokesperson.
