IndiGo Flight Cancellations: How To Get A Full Refund Or Reschedule Your Flight Easily

India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has cancelled hundreds of flights across major airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, leaving thousands of travellers stranded. If your plans were affected by these sudden cancellations, here’s a simple guide to help you claim a full refund or reschedule your flight without hassle.

How to Get a Refund or Change Your Flight

Step-by-Step Process

  1. Visit IndiGo’s official website.
Scroll down to the “Support” section at the bottom of the page.
  2. Select “Plan B”.
This option enables passengers to change, cancel, or request a refund for disrupted flights.
  3. Enter your booking details.
Provide your PNR/Booking Reference Number along with your Email ID or Last Name.
  4. Choose your preferred option.
    • Change Flight: Modify the flight’s date and/or time at no extra cost.
    • Cancel Flight: Opt for a full refund.

Refund Timeline

Once your request is processed, refunds typically reflect in your bank account within seven business days.
If you booked through a travel agency or online travel portal, you must contact the respective agency directly to initiate the refund.

What Triggered the IndiGo Crisis?

The cancellations come amid IndiGo’s failure to comply with the latest norms issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

India’s aviation regulator introduced the second and final phase of the revised Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) norms in November, following the first phase rolled out in July after months of delay.

The updated rules aim to improve flight crew rest hours, enhance fatigue management, and increase weekly rest periods, especially during night operations.

Failure to implement these norms reportedly contributed to the large-scale operational breakdown.

IndiGo Sets Up Crisis Management Group

On Sunday, IndiGo announced that its Board of Directors has formed a dedicated Crisis Management Group to handle the widespread cancellations and delays.

The decision was made after an emergency board meeting, where members were briefed on the extent of disruptions and the urgent need to stabilise operations nationwide.
