IndiGo Boosts International Routes And Expands Domestic Network From Hindon Airport

New Delhi, India | July 30, 2025: IndiGo airlines announced today the opening of bookings for increased flight frequencies on its recently launched long-haul routes connecting Mumbai with Amsterdam and Manchester, effective from September and October 2025. This expansion comes alongside the airline’s significant foray into Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport, from which it has recently commenced operations to nine Indian cities.

Starting September 20, 2025, IndiGo will operate six flights per week between Mumbai and Amsterdam, further increasing this service to daily flights from October 13, 2025. Additionally, connectivity between Mumbai and Manchester will be enhanced to four times weekly, effective from September 22, 2025. These long-haul routes are operated using Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the first of which was taken on damp-lease from Norse Atlantic Airways and commenced operations to Manchester and Amsterdam on July 1 and 2, respectively.

The airline anticipates receiving five additional Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft in the current financial year, with the first expected by mid-September. These additions will further bolster IndiGo’s service capabilities on these crucial international routes, marking a pivotal moment in the airline’s global expansion strategy.

Earlier this week, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu officially launched IndiGo’s new flight routes from Ghaziabad’s Hindon Airport. IndiGo now becomes the second airline, after Air India Express which started operations four months ago, to establish a presence at Hindon Airport.

Hindon Airport, serving the National Capital Region (NCR), will now be connected to nine major Indian cities through IndiGo services: Bengaluru, Kolkata, Varanasi, Goa, Patna, Chennai, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Indore. This strategic expansion aims to provide convenient travel options for residents in Ghaziabad, Noida, East and Central Delhi, and parts of Western Uttar Pradesh.

Minister Kinjarapu hailed the development as a success for the government’s UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik) scheme, emphasizing its role in fulfilling the ambitions and aspirations of common Indians. “This is an Udan success of Hindon, Ghaziabad, western Uttar Pradesh, and the entire country,” he stated from Hindon Airport.

Reflecting on the growth of India’s civil aviation sector, the minister noted that the country’s airline fleet, airports, terminal capacity, and passenger numbers have doubled over the past decade. He projected continued growth, particularly in tier II and III cities, stating, “During 2024-2034, civil aviation in tier II and III cities will grow and we will have to unlock the potential. Hindon will serve as an example.”

With operations now active from both Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) and Hindon Airport (HDO), flyers in the National Capital Region will benefit from expanded choices for domestic air travel. The development work for the civil enclave at Hindon Airport was undertaken in 2019 under the UDAN scheme at a cost of Rs 50 crore, in collaboration with the Indian Air Force.
