Noida (Gautam Buddha Nagar) [India]: With each thread, a new story unfolds—transforming yarn into stunning textiles, from garments to wall hangings. India’s thriving textile industry continues to create vast opportunities both domestically and internationally, playing a crucial role in the country’s economic growth.
As India moves toward a USD 5 trillion economy, with aspirations to reach USD 7 trillion by 2030, the textile sector stands at the forefront of rapid expansion and innovation.
To accelerate this momentum, Delhi hosted Bharat Tex, India’s largest textile trade fair, bringing together industry leaders, global innovators, and textile technology experts for a transformative experience.
In an interview with media, Dinny Jusuf, CEO and Founder of TORAJAMELO (Indonesia), emphasized India’s strong position in the textile industry.
“I believe India is at the forefront of the textile industry, with exceptional capacity and expertise in natural fibers and dyes. That’s why I have come to India—to learn from its rich heritage that spans hundreds of years. India has both the resources and the knowledge, which are lacking in Indonesia.”
The event featured an extensive range of fabrics, from traditional cotton, silk, and wool to innovative jute and eco-friendly textiles, blending heritage with modern advancements.
Bhawna, a visitor at Bharat Tex, shared her experience:
“It’s actually pretty nice here. I have seen a variety of garments, textiles, and different manufacturers, as well as exporters from various places.”
Another visitor, Ashish, highlighted the collaborative aspect of India’s growth:
“This is India’s growth story, and it is a collaborative one. It is not just about India alone—the entire world is coming together. This progress is driven by our Prime Minister’s vision and leadership, under which our textile industry is expanding rapidly.”
India’s Textile Industry: A Key Global Player
According to the India Brand Equity Foundation, India’s textile and apparel market is projected to grow at a 10% CAGR, reaching USD 350 billion by 2030. Currently, India is the world’s third-largest textile and apparel exporter and ranks among the top five in multiple categories. Exports are expected to reach USD 100 billion in the coming years.
Shuchi Bhutani, Founder and CEO of Khumaar Enterprises, noted the growing international recognition of Indian textiles:
“The response has been great. We have been working in the textile industry for the past seven years domestically, and now we are expanding internationally. Recently, we also participated in runway shows at London Fashion Week, which is a significant step towards showcasing India on the global stage. The response has been very positive, and people are truly appreciating and embracing it.”
From intricate handlooms to advanced manufacturing, India remains a global leader in textiles.
PM Modi on India’s Textile Growth
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the sector’s critical role in India’s economy:
“This sector contributes 11% to India’s manufacturing output. In this year’s budget, you must have noticed that we have emphasized Mission Manufacturing, and you all are part of it. That is why when investments are coming into this sector and it is growing, millions of textile workers are benefiting from it.”
As India steps into a new era of economic prosperity, the textile industry is driving growth, sustainability, and innovation—weaving a dynamic and resilient future for generations to come.
