India’s Success In ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Boosts Rankings For Key Players

Dubai (UAE), March 12: India’s victorious campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has had a significant impact on the latest ICC ODI Rankings, with several players making notable jumps.

India clinched their third Champions Trophy title on Sunday after defeating New Zealand by four wickets in a thrilling final. Following their dominant performance, numerous Indian players have made impressive strides in the rankings.

Shubman Gill, who retained his top spot in the ICC ODI Batter rankings, continued his impressive form during the tournament. Rohit Sharma, India’s captain, moved up two places to third after his match-winning half-century in the final. Rohit scored 76 off 83 balls to guide India to victory, while Virat Kohli, who amassed 218 runs in the tournament, remains in the top five at fifth.

For New Zealand, several players also saw improvements. Daryl Mitchell rose to sixth, Rachin Ravindra made a massive leap of 14 spots to 14th, and Glenn Phillips climbed six places to 24th in the latest rankings for ODI batters. Meanwhile, Mitchell Santner was the standout bowler for New Zealand in the tournament, claiming nine wickets, including two in the final, which propelled him six spots up to second on the ODI bowlers’ list. Sri Lanka’s Maheesh Theekshana is now the only player ranked ahead of him.

From the Indian camp, two spinners also made impressive gains. Kuldeep Yadav moved up three places to third after taking seven wickets during the tournament. Ravindra Jadeja, who picked up five wickets for India, climbed three spots to enter the top 10, securing the 10th position.

In the ODI All-rounders’ rankings, Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai maintained his lead, but he now faces strong competition from New Zealand’s players following their stellar performances in the Champions Trophy. Santner rose to fourth, Michael Bracewell gained 10 places to reach 18th, and Ravindra, who was named ‘Player of the Tournament,’ improved eight places to climb to eighth.

India’s victory in the Champions Trophy not only brought them the title but also elevated the individual rankings of some of their best performers, further solidifying their dominance in the 50-over format.
