“India’s Constitution Is The World’s Largest And Most Beautiful”: Kiren Rijiju

New Delhi [India], December 14 : Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, on Friday hailed the Constitution of India as not only the longest but also the most remarkable and beautiful in the world.

Speaking during a discussion in the Lok Sabha on the 75th anniversary of the adoption of India’s Constitution, Rijiju shared a personal anecdote, saying, “I come from a region where I first saw airplanes before cars. It was only after I became an MP that roads were built for cars. When Prime Minister Modi gave me the opportunity to sit in the seat where Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar had sat, I took the time to understand the thoughts and ideas of Baba Saheb that he could not fully express.”

Rijiju added, “Our Constitution is not only the largest in the world but also the most beautiful in the world.”

The Minister also discussed how the ideas of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar were misinterpreted after his death, noting that while Ambedkar had renounced Hinduism, he was never hostile towards it. “BR Ambedkar never spoke against any religion. He fought against practices like untouchability in Hindu society, but he was never antagonistic towards the Hindu religion,” Rijiju said. He emphasized that Ambedkar’s decision to adopt Buddhism was to escape the caste system, not to oppose Hinduism.

The Lok Sabha on December 13 began a two-day debate marking the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution. The debate featured powerful speeches from Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

The winter session of Parliament, which began on November 25, is scheduled to continue until December 20.
