India’s All-Party Delegation In Ethiopia Highlights United Stand Against Terrorism, Pays Tribute To Gandhi

As part of India’s robust global diplomatic outreach in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, an all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by NCP-Sharadchandra Pawar MP Supriya Sule, visited Ethiopia, where they emphasized India’s unified national stand against terrorism.

Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi

The delegation began their visit with a floral tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Indian Embassy in Addis Ababa, symbolizing India’s enduring commitment to peace even in the face of grave provocation.

Strategic Meetings with Ethiopian Leadership

During the visit, the delegation held a key meeting with Adem Farah, Vice President of Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party. Sharing the interaction, AAP MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney noted:

“He expressed a strong stand on terrorism, affirmed Ethiopia’s zero tolerance approach, and closely followed the Pahalgam attack, condemning it unequivocally.”

Additionally, the group met with Tagesse Chaffo, Speaker of Ethiopia’s House of Peoples’ Representatives, and other MPs, where the delegation presented a clear account of India’s military and diplomatic response through Operation Sindoor.

Engagement with the African Union

The delegation also met with the Chairperson of the African Union’s Committee on Terrorism, a vital interaction amid growing Indo-African cooperation on global security matters.

“The AU has not only passed an act to combat terrorism but is also taking action on illicit financing and tech-driven terrorism. We had a deep discussion on shared security concerns,” Sahney said.

India’s Message: Unity in the Face of Terror

Speaking to Ethiopian leadership, Supriya Sule reinforced that India’s response is non-partisan and nation-driven:

“We lost 26 innocent people in Pahalgam. This is not just about India; it’s about humanity. Our Prime Minister initiated Operation Sindoor as a comprehensive military and diplomatic response. These delegations are part of that effort to reach out to our global friends with facts and resolve.”

She emphasized that India’s unity in responding to terrorism transcends political ideologies:

“We are here as Indians. We have set aside politics. Terrorism is a threat to all, and we stand together in solidarity with the victims.”

Multi-Party Representation and Global Outreach

Alongside Sule and Sahney, the delegation includes Rajiv Pratap Rudy (BJP), Manish Tewari (Congress), Anurag Singh Thakur (BJP), Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu (TDP), Anand Sharma (Congress), V. Muraleedharan (BJP) and former diplomat Syed Akbaruddin.

This is one of seven such delegations currently deployed worldwide, tasked with presenting India’s narrative and response to global partners following the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Through these diplomatic efforts, India aims to galvanize international support, isolate state sponsors of terror, and promote zero tolerance against cross-border terrorism as a global norm.
