Indians Await Tax Relief, Job Creation, And Economic Reforms In Union Budget 2025

New Delhi [India]: As the Union Budget 2025-26 approaches, Indians across the country eagerly anticipate policy announcements that could bring relief in income tax slabs, address farmers’ concerns, and boost job opportunities.

A local resident from Siliguri, West Bengal, expressed concerns about the middle class, stating,

“We expect that the middle class should be taken care of, about whom no one thinks.”

Similarly, Dharmendra Verma, a resident from Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the need for tax relief, saying,

“The biggest thing is the middle class. We want a relaxation in tax slabs… More relief for the middle class will improve India’s economy and purchasing power. We want something concrete.”

A resident from Hyderabad emphasized the issue of unemployment, hoping for significant measures in the budget.

“We expect more benefits for the poor and middle class, as the salaried middle class is struggling with tax issues. The government should focus on unemployment, and I expect this budget to be a ‘super budget’.”

In Ayodhya, Suryaprakash, a local, shared his enthusiasm and hope for youth-focused schemes.

“The youth are enthusiastic and hopeful. We expect positive schemes to improve opportunities. There should also be provisions for farmers and the middle class.”

Another resident from Ayodhya, a goldsmith, hopes for excise duty relief on gold and measures to control inflation.

“We hope for job creation, lower inflation, and women’s security. The tax rate on essential goods should not increase. As small goldsmiths, we expect some relief in excise duty and GST on gold.”

Budget Presentation and Economic Outlook

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present her record 8th consecutive Union Budget today. Early this morning, she arrived at North Block, home to the Ministry of Finance, before heading to Parliament for the presentation.

Her budget speech will outline the government’s fiscal policies, taxation reforms, revenue and expenditure plans, and key economic strategies.

Meanwhile, the Economic Survey, tabled in Parliament on Friday, projected India’s GDP growth between 6.3% and 6.8% for the financial year 2025-26, highlighting strong economic fundamentals, fiscal consolidation, and private consumption stability.
