Indian Staff Nurse At Singapore’s Raffles Hospital Jailed And Caned For Molestation

October 24, 2025, in Singapore — An Indian national who worked as a staff nurse at Raffles Hospital, a high-end hospital in Singapore, has been sentenced to one year and two months in jail and two strokes of the cane after admitting to molestation.

The 34-year-old Elipe Siva Nagu molested a male visitor at the hospital in June 2025. The Straits Times says that Elipe said he wanted to “disinfect” the victim before he did the crime. He was put on leave from his nursing duties not long after the event.

The court heard about the crime, which happened on June 18 at the hospital on North Bridge Road. The victim, whose name and age were kept secret in court filings, went to the hospital at 7:30 p.m. to see his grandfather, who was a patient there.

Eugene Phua, the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP), told the court that the victim went into a patient’s bathroom and Elipe looked inside while he was using it. Elipe then placed soap on his hand and pretended to need to “disinfect” the visitor before sexually assaulting him. It is said that the victim was so stunned and scared by the attack that he froze and didn’t move.

The victim went back to his grandfather’s bedside after the trauma. Court documents didn’t say what happened right after the incident, but the case was officially reported three days later, on June 21. Elipe was arrested two days later. The court gave the sentence of a year and two months in prison and two strokes of the cane on Friday, October 24. The prosecution said that the victim had flashbacks of the crime because of the distress it created.
