Indian Navy Showcases Combat Readiness with Successful Missile Firings in Arabian Sea

New Delhi [India], April 27: The Indian Navy has successfully carried out a series of anti-ship missile firings in the Arabian Sea, reaffirming its operational readiness and precision strike capabilities.

According to a statement shared on social media platform X by the Indian Navy spokesperson, the drills were aimed at validating the performance of warship platforms, onboard systems, and crew efficiency in executing long-range offensive strikes.

“Indian Navy Ships undertook successful multiple anti-ship firings to revalidate and demonstrate readiness of platforms, systems and crew for long-range precision offensive strike. Indian Navy stands Combat Ready, Credible and Future Ready in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests Anytime Anywhere Anyhow,” the Navy stated.

These operations come in the backdrop of heightened tensions following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives and raised security concerns across the region.

In a related development, INS Surat, the Navy’s latest indigenous guided missile destroyer, successfully test-fired the Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MR-SAM) system in the Arabian Sea. This marks a significant step in India’s defence capabilities, especially as Pakistan prepares for its own surface-to-surface missile testing in the same region.

The MR-SAM system, known for its effectiveness against aerial threats and sea-skimming missiles, demonstrated precision cooperative engagement of a target during the trial. This achievement not only reinforces the Navy’s air defence strength but also underlines India’s progress in indigenous defence technology.

INS Surat, the fourth and final vessel of the Project 15B Guided Missile Destroyer series, is among the most advanced destroyers globally. With 75% indigenous content, it features cutting-edge weapon-sensor systems and modern network-centric warfare capabilities.

These developments reflect the Indian Navy’s commitment to maintaining maritime security and enhancing national self-reliance in defence manufacturing.
