Indian Military Contingent Departs For Russia To Participate In ‘Exercise Zapad 2025’

NEW DELHI — A group of Indian soldiers left for Russia on Tuesday to take part in “Exercise Zapad 2025,” a combined military drill focusing on conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations. This shows how the two countries are still working together on defense. The Mulino Training Ground in Nizhniy will host the exercise from September 10 to 16.

The Indian Ministry of Defence said that the 65-personnel group is made up of 57 people from the Indian Army, seven from the Indian Air Force, and one from the Indian Navy. A battalion from the Kumaon Regiment is in charge of the Indian Army’s team, which also includes troops from other branches and services.

The major goal of the multinational exercise is to “improve interoperability, increase military cooperation, and give participating armies a chance to share tactics, techniques, and procedures in the areas of conventional warfare and counter-terrorism operations.” Officials said that the drills will focus on joint company-level operations in open and plain terrain, with troops doing tasks including joint planning, tactical drills, and special weaponry skills.

This exercise will give the Indian military a great chance to improve their ability to work together, learn how to use new technologies, and become used to fighting with troops from other countries.

‘Exercise Zapad 2025’ is likely to deepen defense cooperation and friendship between India and Russia even more. This will strengthen the spirit of collaboration and confidence that has long defined the strategic partnership between the two countries.
