Indian Embassy In Tehran Ensures Safety Of Indian Students Amid Escalating Israel-Iran Tensions

Amid heightened military conflict between Israel and Iran, the Indian Embassy in Tehran is taking active steps to safeguard the well-being of Indian students residing in Iran, according to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).

The Embassy is closely monitoring the volatile security environment and maintaining regular communication with Indian students to offer necessary support.

“The Indian Embassy in Tehran is continuously monitoring the security situation and engaging Indian students in Iran to ensure their safety,” read the statement.

The Embassy has already facilitated the relocation of several students to safer locations within Iran and is considering other options, including possible evacuation plans, to ensure the complete safety of Indian nationals.

“In some cases, students are being relocated with Embassy’s facilitation to safer places within Iran. Other feasible options are also under examination. Further updates will follow,” added the statement.

In addition to assisting students, the Embassy remains in contact with community leaders to address broader welfare and safety concerns of the Indian diaspora.

“Separately, the Embassy is in touch with community leaders regarding welfare and safety,” added the statement.

The diplomatic moves come as Israel launched a large-scale wave of strikes on Iranian territory on Sunday, targeting multiple weapons manufacturing sites. According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), these strikes were aimed at degrading the capabilities of Iran’s Quds Force, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and other military assets in Tehran.

“Numerous weapons production sites across Iran were targeted,” the IDF said.

The IDF disclosed that its attacks destroyed facilities for producing navigation and missile systems, fuels for missile propulsion, and key components for surface-to-surface missile engines. Additionally, production sites for aerial defense system parts linked to the IRGC were also dismantled.

Global leaders have voiced alarm over the growing conflict. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called for restraint and renewed diplomatic efforts:

“Europe has always been clear: Iran can never acquire a nuclear weapon. There is an urgent need for a negotiated solution,” she said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan backed US President Donald Trump’s appeal for a deal between the two nations and highlighted the “irreversible economic, civilian damage” caused by the hostilities, according to Turkey’s Anadolu Agency.

On the other side, Iran reportedly initiated Phase Four of its military response, dubbed Operation True Promise 3, involving hundreds of ballistic missiles aimed at Israeli residential and infrastructure targets. Iranian state media stated this as a “decisive response” to Israel’s earlier airstrikes, which killed several top Iranian commanders.

In response, the Israeli Air Force (IAF) confirmed renewed strikes on critical military targets in Tehran, including missile production sites, radar detection stations, and missile launchers.

“The IAF struck and dismantled surface-to-surface missile production sites, detection radar sites, and surface-to-air missile launchers in Tehran, with the direction of the IDF Intelligence Directorate,” the IDF said in a statement.

The hostilities have already resulted in at least 224 fatalities in Iran and 14 in Israel, with nearly 1,481 injuries reported in Iran, according to respective national authorities. Explosions were seen in Israel’s coastal city of Haifa, and further missile exchanges between the two countries continued into Sunday night.

As tensions escalate, the Indian government remains vigilant, prioritizing the safety of its citizens in the region, particularly students and expatriates in Iran.
