In a significant demonstration of India’s robust air defence capabilities, the Indian Army thwarted a Pakistani drone attack over Khasa Cantonment in Amritsar around 5:00 AM on Saturday, as part of Operation Sindoor, the military’s counteroffensive initiative launched earlier this week.
Multiple Drones Destroyed Over Punjab
Taking to social media platform X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG PI) confirmed the incident, noting that “multiple enemy armed drones” were detected and swiftly destroyed by air defence units operating in the area.
“Pakistan’s blatant attempt to violate India’s sovereignty and endanger civilians is unacceptable. Indian Army will thwart enemy designs,” the Army declared in its official post.

Drone Fragments Recovered in Punjab and Rajasthan
The incident comes amid rising concerns over Pakistan’s intensified drone warfare tactics, with debris of unidentified aerial projectiles found in multiple Indian states:
- In Amritsar’s Mughlani Kot Village, villagers discovered fragments of a drone-like object in a burnt field. No injuries were reported.
- In Barmer, Rajasthan, debris was found near Uttarlai Air Force Station and Jalipa Military Station. While no official identification of the object has been released, locals reported witnessing a blast in the early hours of the day.
Operation Sindoor: India’s Counterstrike
The Indian Army confirmed that this drone neutralisation effort is part of Operation Sindoor, under which nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were neutralised during earlier strikes on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in retaliation to Pakistan’s attack on 26 locations across India, Indian forces struck four airbases inside Pakistan early Saturday.
Sources told media that intermittent firing is ongoing along the Line of Control (LoC), and that India’s forces are maintaining high alert across border states.
Defence Ministry on National Readiness
In its recent update, the Ministry of Defence emphasized that armed drones had been spotted at 26 locations, including Baramulla, Srinagar, Pathankot, and Bhuj, raising red flags over Pakistan’s use of aerial munitions in civilian areas.
“All aerial threats are being engaged with counter-drone systems… Citizens are advised to remain indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow local safety protocols,” the ministry reiterated.
