New Delhi [India], March 28: In a groundbreaking achievement, the Indian Army’s Fleur-De-Lis Brigade has successfully tested an FPV (First Person View) drone equipped with an impact-based, kamikaze-role anti-tank munition—a first-of-its-kind project in the Indian military.
The test was conducted in the Pathankot region of Punjab, marking a significant step in the tactical drone warfare capabilities of the Indian Army.
Indigenous Development and Collaboration with DRDO
- The FPV drone was developed in collaboration with DRDO’s Terminal Ballistics Research Laboratory (TBRL), Chandigarh.
- Launched in August 2024, the initiative has undergone extensive research, development, and trials to enhance low-cost, high-impact aerial strike systems.
- The drone was assembled in-house at the Rising Star Drone Battle School, which has fabricated over 100 drones within the formation as of March 2025.
This self-reliant approach ensured high build quality, real-time modifications, and optimized structural integrity, weight distribution, and flight dynamics, making the drone highly maneuverable for combat deployment.
Advanced Safety and Precision Mechanisms
To ensure operator safety and combat efficiency, the drone features:
✔ Dual-Safety Mechanism – Prevents accidental detonation during transport, handling, and flight.
✔ Trigger System – Can only be activated by the pilot via radio controller, preventing premature detonation.
✔ Live Feedback Relay – Provides real-time payload status updates through FPV goggles, ensuring precise execution.
Rigorous Testing and Validation
- The FPV drone underwent a multi-phase testing process, including explosive testing, aerial vehicle assessments, and trigger system evaluations.
- Each stage was validated by TBRL scientists, confirming accuracy, reliability, and effectiveness in payload delivery.
A Game-Changer in Tactical Warfare
The successful validation of this indigenous FPV kamikaze drone marks a significant leap in India’s defense technology, offering a game-changing force multiplier in modern battlefield engagements
