Indian Army Shoots Down Pakistan Drone Near LoC Using DRDO’s Indigenous Anti-Drone System

New Delhi [India], April 13: The Indian Army successfully neutralized a Pakistan Army drone attempting surveillance near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Jammu region, using an indigenously developed ‘Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System,’ according to defence sources.

The drone, reportedly of Chinese origin, was taken down by the Army’s Air Defence units deployed under the 16 Corps, located south of the Pir Panjal ranges.

Defence sources said the drone was spotted operating close to Indian territory along the LoC and was swiftly targeted. The anti-drone system used for the operation was developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and is capable of detecting, jamming, spoofing, and neutralizing hostile drones under a range of scenarios.

The DRDO system is equipped with a powerful 2-kilowatt laser capable of striking drones at a distance of 800 to 1,000 metres. It has been deployed in key areas along India’s borders and is actively used by the Indian Army and other security agencies for counter-drone operations.

This successful interdiction highlights the growing capability of India’s indigenous defence technology in tackling emerging security threats along sensitive border regions.
