Indian Army Retaliates After Pakistan Violates Ceasefire in Poonch

Poonch (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 2: Indian Army troops retaliated strongly after the Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire by opening fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district.

According to a statement issued by PRO Defence Jammu, the incident occurred on April 1, 2025, in the Krishna Ghati (KG) Sector. A mine blast took place while the Pakistan Army was patrolling across the LoC, followed by unprovoked firing at Indian positions. The Indian Army responded effectively, ensuring control over the situation.

The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining peace along the LoC in accordance with the 2021 DGsMO ceasefire agreement while also emphasizing its readiness to respond to any provocations.

Troops of the Nangi Tekri Battalion, operating under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, led the retaliatory response to Pakistan’s ceasefire violation.

Meanwhile, security forces have intensified search and cordon operations following an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a joint operation, setting up multiple surveillance and ambush positions.

Suspicious movement detected on the night of March 31 triggered a fresh encounter, prompting security personnel to initiate a search-and-destroy operation early on April 1. The operation remains ongoing, with security forces maintaining a heightened state of alert.
