Indian Army Responds Strongly To Pakistani Ceasefire Violation Along LoC In Poonch

Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], February 17: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha on Monday confirmed that the Indian Army was delivering a strong response to the Pakistani troops who violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on Sunday, triggering an immediate retaliation from the Indian Army.

Speaking to the media, Sinha highlighted the efficient coordination between the Jammu and Kashmir Police and security forces. “Indian Army is giving a befitting reply. There is good coordination between Jammu Kashmir Police and security forces, and they have been instructed that terrorism has to be stopped at any cost and this system has to be ended…” he stated.

The LG emphasized that maintaining peace in the state was of utmost priority. “Whatever action is being taken in this regard, there will be no break in it, it will continue uninterrupted and I think that the top priority will be to maintain peace in Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.

In reference to Pakistan’s actions, Sinha remarked, “Pakistan ke naam mein Pak hai par uski harkatein napak hai…This is their history also…For the past several days, they have been violating the ceasefire…First, they did such an incident in Akhnoor, and now they have repeated it in Poonch today…The country is leading in the world and signing several deals, and therefore, countries like Pakistan, China, and all those that do not agree with us are not happy…We want to tell our government and our Indian Army that we stand with them.”

No casualties have been reported on the Indian side, according to Army sources. This incident comes days after the Army reaffirmed that the ceasefire agreement along the LoC remained intact despite occasional stray firing incidents. Earlier on February 13, the Army dismissed reports of a ceasefire violation, stating that the truce between the Indian and Pakistani armies was being respected.
