Indian Army Hosts Free Medical Camp In Doda As COAS Reviews Amarnath Yatra Security Preparations

Doda (Jammu and Kashmir), June 23: The Indian Army’s 26 Rashtriya Rifles organized a free medical camp at Manoo Panchayat in the Chilly Gandoh area of Doda district on Monday, drawing thousands of residents who availed essential healthcare services.

The initiative aimed to provide accessible medical aid to the region’s underserved communities and foster trust between the Army and local population. The large turnout reflected the deep healthcare needs in the remote hilly area.

This humanitarian outreach coincided with a high-level security review in the Kashmir Valley. On June 22, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi visited the region to assess the operational readiness ahead of the Shri Amarnath Yatra 2025.

According to the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADG-PI), General Dwivedi was given a comprehensive briefing on the security grid, including live demonstrations of advanced technologies integrated into military operations. These innovations are aimed at enhancing surveillance, response times, and real-time decision-making.

“The #COAS lauded all ranks of #ChinarCorps for their unwavering commitment in ensuring peace and stability through decisive counter-terror operations and initiatives aimed at the development of the region and upliftment of local population,” the Indian Army stated via a post on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Disaster Management Department, in coordination with the Anantnag District Administration and emergency response agencies like SDRF, NDRF, and the Indian Army, conducted a large-scale mock drill in Pahalgam. The simulation, based on a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) scenario, was designed to assess disaster preparedness during the upcoming pilgrimage.

With more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims visiting the Amarnath cave shrine in 2024, such measures are critical for managing potential natural disasters and ensuring smooth conduct of one of the most significant Hindu pilgrimages in India.
