Indian Armed Forces Neutralise Pakistani Air Defence Systems in Major Retaliatory Operation

New Delhi [India]: In a decisive retaliatory action, the Indian Armed Forces have employed Harpy drones to target and neutralise Pakistani air defence systems, including a key installation in Lahore. The Harpy drones, designed for Suppression of Enemy Air Defences (SEAD), are equipped with anti-radiation seekers and high-explosive warheads capable of autonomous deep-strike missions, even in GPS-denied or contested environments.

These drone strikes were part of a broader Indian operation launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. Codenamed Operation Sindoor, the mission destroyed nine terrorist camps linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), and Hizbul Mujahideen. Of these, four camps were located in mainland Pakistan—Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya—while five were situated in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), including Bhimber, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad regions.

Following the Indian strike, Pakistan attempted to retaliate on the night of May 7 by targeting multiple military installations across Northern and Western India using drones and missiles. Areas targeted included Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Chandigarh, Phalodi, Bhuj, and others. However, all incoming threats were effectively neutralised by India’s Integrated Counter-Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) Grid and Air Defence systems, including the advanced S-400 Sudarshan Chakra missile defence system.

Debris from intercepted drones and missiles is being recovered from several Indian cities, providing evidence of Pakistan’s attempted strikes. This morning, India launched another wave of precision strikes targeting Pakistani air defence radars and systems, maintaining parity in response.

Meanwhile, Pakistani forces have intensified unprovoked cross-border shelling along the Line of Control (LoC), using mortars and heavy artillery in Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, Poonch, Mendhar, and Rajouri sectors. The attacks have resulted in the tragic loss of sixteen civilian lives, including three women and five children.

The Indian Armed Forces have stated their commitment to avoiding escalation but affirm that continued aggression from Pakistan will be met with a firm and proportionate response.
