India Warns Pakistan Over Ceasefire Violations Along LoC; Army Retaliates Swiftly In Kupwara, Poonch

New Delhi [India]: In a direct communication via the military hotline on Tuesday, the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of India and Pakistan held talks following unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Pakistan Army along the Line of Control (LoC) and International Border, defence sources said on Wednesday.

During the conversation, India issued a stern warning to Pakistan regarding the recent violations and emphasized that continued provocations would be met with firm retaliation.

Key Points:

  • Ceasefire Violations Reported:
The Pakistani Army carried out unprovoked small arms firing on the nights of April 26-27 and April 27-28 in Kupwara, Poonch, Tutmari Gali, and Rampur sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.
  • Swift Retaliation by Indian Army:
In all instances, the Indian Army responded effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to civilian life while deterring further aggression.
  • Rise in Tensions:
These violations follow closely on the heels of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, prompting heightened alertness and intensified anti-terror operations across the Kashmir Valley.
  • India’s Diplomatic and Strategic Measures:
In response to Pakistan’s alleged backing of cross-border terrorism, India has:
    • Suspended the Indus Water Treaty,
    • Closed the Attari Integrated Check Post, and
    • Decided to curtail diplomatic presence in both countries.
  • Security Policy Shift:
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) has granted full operational freedom to the Indian Armed Forces to determine the mode, timing, and scale of retaliation to any provocation.
